WHAT DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE?

Most lessons are live-streamed using Google Meet, so you need to make sure you have the equipment and internet connection that allows for this. Generally, a modern computer with a camera and a stable internet connection will suffice. Of course, you need to have a working kitchen range and/or oven, with basic tools (e.g. can opener, spatulas, wok, pots). Specialty tools, when needed, are specified in the class description.

INTERESTED IN HAVING A PRIVATE PARTY?

Please email me the details of your party (e.g. group size, dish, date/time) You can first check my calendar to make sure I don't already have a class scheduled during that time.

I WANT TO FEED MORE PEOPLE: WHAT SHOULD I DO?

It is time consuming to create a special meal for a family from scratch, especially when learning a new recipe. Cooking for two allows participants to keep up with the class pace, and to really learn the meaning of authentic Thai cuisine, which sometimes involves doing tedious things like chopping up poultry by hand. The result is a truly distinctive and authentic Thai dish that you will have created in your very own kitchen!

DO I NEED TO PURCHASE THE MEAL KIT

You never have to purchase a meal kit. My classes are not exclusive to State College locals. The ingredients shopping list will be automatically available to you right after your class registration, or a few days prior to class—depending on the dish.

THE PRICES OF THE MEAL KIT SEEMS HIGH

While the price may seem high, the money that you spend for your meal kit goes directly to supporting local farms. Some dishes require exotic ingredients (or higher grade ingredients) that are not found in town, I travel long distances to bring them to you.

In addition, there is a lot of careful labor involved in putting together your meal kit, which includes some exotic or rare ingredients and high-grade containers. I do the shopping and the careful preparation so you can relax and focus on learning how to cook a delicious, authentic dish!

WHY ARE THESE DISHES SO SPICY?

There are thousands of dishes in Thai cuisine, not all are spicy, and each region may have its version. While the spice level is customizable, Thais (with Chinese ancestry) that do not eat spicy hot will indeed shy away from those dishes.

WHY ISN'T THERE MORE VEGETABLE IN THE DISH?

The communal nature of Thai dinners is critically important. While some Thai entrées contain no vegetables, there is usually a stir fry vegetable of some sort at the table to share. Sharing food is one of the highest forms of love. You are encouraged to learn to cook the class entrée with your family, and supplement your dinner with other dishes like salads, soup, or vegetable stir fry for sharing.

UNDERSTANDING THE RAW VEGGIES IN THAI CUISINE

They're not just for garnishing, but their primary job is to kill the heat in spicy dishes.
